1. Hey, sally, I just got the first draft of my research paper from Professor Stone.
2. Just now?
3. I got mine back a few days ago.
4. Yeah, everyone else in the class that I know of got theirs a few days ago, too.
5. But the deadline, you are running out of time.
6. Yeah, I am worried.
7. I only have one day to review all these comments and write my final draft.
8. He made a lot of suggestions.
9. You should definitely ask Professor Stone for a deadline extension.
10. He should take some responsibility for this situation.
11. It is sort of his fault you won't have much time to work on in before the due date.
12. I've thought about that, but would he think I was being pushy or criticizing him for not getting the paper back to me right away.
13. I don't want to offend him.
14. True, but it is you grade we are talking about.
15. You've got a legitimate concern.
16. But it's understandable if you are uncomfortable asking.
17. Yeah, I am not a tough Spartan.
18. You know, you could always just do your best with the time you have left.
19. You are a good student.
20. I bet you can finish it quickly; work really fast and it'll still turn out good.
21. Do my best for the time I have left.
22. Well, if I worked really hard, I imagine I might do ok but I‘d have to be sure to deal with all these comments.
23. I need a good grade.
A sample Answer to this speaking in text:
The man’s problem is that he got his paper from the professor later than most other students, he might not have enough time to deal with all the comments made by the professor. There are two possible solutions. The first is asking the professor for a deadline extension. The second solution is to work as quickly as possible with the time left. I think the first solution is a better idea for the following reasons. First of all, him not having enough time to work on the paper is caused by the professor not getting his paper back in time. As long as he ask the professor nicely, the professor will understand. Also, the other solution is not a good choice because rushing the work will affect his grade, and he needs a good one.
