TOEFL SPEAKING TASK 6: PROFIT GROWTH
During the end of the year, business owners will sum up the profit in the past whole year and arrange the budget of the next year. And they will try to find some ways to increase the profit growth.
In general, there are two ways a company can increase its profit growth, internal growth and external growth.
In internal growth, budgets are put into the company like making some investments. Educating the employees, buying new equipments, for example. Here is an example of internal growth. Wilson company replaced all of the low-efficiency copy machines into new ones, and this bring the company high-effieiency working and also attract a lot of costumers because they could check-out faster and saving a lot of time. As more and more costumers appreciated the efficiency of checking-out, the company gained new costumers and therefore profit.
Another way is called external growth. A company can obtain original costumers of another company by buying the company. For example, Wilson company bought several local supermarkets and changed their names into its own name. Owing to the fact that costumers would not stop from going to a supermarket just because its name changed, the company could get the old costumers and gained profit.
