Nov 4, 2016
We're conjuring the five most popular songs in the Billboard Hot 100 Pop Singles chart, for the week ending November 5, 2016.
Halloween fell on Monday October 31, but nothing terrifying happens in this week's hit list – it's all treats and no tricks.
Number 5: D.R.A.M. & Lil Yachty "Broccoli"
Among them is a new song, as D.R.A.M. and Lil Yachty rise a slot to fifth place with “Broccoli.”
D.R.A.M. is Shelley Massenburg-Smith, from the Hampton, Virginia area who has been working on his music while holding down a day job in a call center. He dropped his debut album Big Baby D.R.A.M. on October 21. Lil Yachty – real name Miles McCollum – is a 19-year-old rapper from Atlanta, Georgia who released his first music last year.
Number 4: DJ Snake Featuring Justin Bieber "Let Me Love You"
Holding in fourth place are DJ Snake and Justin Bieber with “Let Me Love You.” Justin has one less problem to worry about today. On October 31, Florida attorney Mark DiCowden said photographer Manuel Munoz' lawsuit against Bieber was revolved. Terms of the settlement are confidential.
Munoz claimed that one of Bieber's bodyguards assaulted him two years ago in Miami Beach. He sought unspecified damages. Justin Bieber is touring Europe through November 29.
Number 3: Twenty One Pilots "Heathens"
Twenty One Pilots had to stop a recent concert due to a bomb threat. On October 22, the band members tweeted, and later deleted, an item saying that Russian authorities had ordered them to shorten a concert in Moscow due to a bomb threat. They said they were safe, but fans were left with many unanswered questions about the incident. This was the Ohio duo's first Russian concert tour.
Number 2: The Weeknd Featuring Daft Punk "Starboy"
Up at number two, The Weeknd and Daft Punk hold with “Starboy.” The Weeknd drops his Starboy album on November 25, and the title song featuring Daft Punk stays put in second place.
While Daft Punk has no touring plans that we know of, The Weeknd just announced a global tour. It all starts on February 17 in Stockholm, Sweden. After Europe he'll move to North America, with dates extending into early June. As for supporting acts...we don't know yet.
Number 1: The Chainsmokers Featuring Halsey "Closer"
We know this: The Chainsmokers and Halsey enter an exclusive club on the Hot 100, as “Closer” extends its title run to 10 weeks. How exclusive? That ties it with Drake's “One Dance” as the longest-running champion single of 2016. It's also just the 33rd song in the 58-year history of the Hot 100 chart to last that long at number one.
What happens next week? You know the answer: join us and find out!
