Some people think that universities should provide graduates with the knowledge and skills needed in the workplace Others think that the true function of a university should be to give access to knowledge for its own sake regardless of whether the course

In modern society, one of the highly controversial issues relates to whether a university should be to concern about specific skills for graduates's career in the future or simply to let it play as an quintessential place of knowledge resident. In this essay, I will shed some lights on the factors contributing to these problems and also suggest some latter angles for the same.
On the one hand, definitely, most of undergraduates bear in mind a certain purpose to pursue their passion when they enroll at university. Likewise, most of majors has a clear path that help students to keep up their paces and also give some helpful guidelines allowing them to focus on the main part of the fathomless depths. That means it avoids youngsters wasting time for studying general subjects which not relevance in graduates's career. For instance, at HaiPhong private university, the English department did not have to research about math or physic, instead of linguistic cultures.
On the flip side of the coin, this is not suit for everyone and not every single person has career orientation over the course of 4 years starting from the outset. As the matter of fact that the considerable number of young people chose to follow the major by believing in their parent words. Moreover, If they were forced to study a more practical subject, they are more likely to quit or become disillusioned because they don’t see the point of their chosen subject. For example, according to The Times recently reported that only 50% of law graduates actually want to become lawyers at the end of their studies.
In conclusion, the function of college is to both prepare students for the workforce and provide knowledge and which one a person chooses should depend on their preference at the time.
