The chart below shows the total number of minutes (in billions) of telephone calls in the UK, divided into three categories, from 1995-2002.

Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

The chart displays the time spent on different types of telephone calls in the UK over a seven year period from 1995 to 2002.

First of all, it is clear that local fixed line calls were the most common used within the given period, which went up from 72 billion in 1995 and reached a peak of 90 billion in 1999. It should be noted that this type of call witnessed a gradual decrease from the year 1999 until the end of the period in question, 2002, when local calls represented about 72 billion of minutes.

Turning to the notational and international calls, it can be seen that they grew steadily during the seven year period, rising from 38 billion in 1995 to 61 billion in 2002. Another trend that can be observed is that mobile calls rocketed from 3 billion at the beginning of the period in 1995 to 47 billion in 2002, showing the most drastic increase between the years 1999-2002.

Overall, even though in 2002 local calls represented the highest number of calls in the United Kingdom, mobile calls have risen drastically over the years and the gap between them has been reduced over the period.
