The bar charts reveal the prospects of UK graduates and postgraduates who were not employed as full-time employees after they graduated in 2008.
In general, the distributions of prospects for graduates and postgraduates were similar. It is apparent that for both graduates and postgraduates, the greatest proportion of students decided to seek higher education while only few of them worked as volunteers. Nevertheless, the number of postgraduates is much lower than that of graduates.
Looking more closely at first graph, almost 30,000 students studied for higher qualification after graduation whereas only 3,500 students went into the voluntary work. Meanwhile, there were around 18,000 students did part-time work, which was slightly more than the unemployed graduates.
For the postgraduates, the majority of students chose to have further education, which was counted 2,725 students and it was just 200 higher than the number of part-time employees. By contrast, 1625 students were still unemployed, and only 345 students worked as volunteers.
