The keyboard came in second place with over 20% on the 1996 bar chart, with the piano coming in first with 30%. Furthermore, more than 10% of youngsters study the violin and electric guitar, 13% and 14% learn both, and 12% learn both. The number of keyboard learners climbed dramatically in 2016, hitting a high of 30%. Pianos remain popular, although their usage is declining, with just around 28% of households owning one.
