The picture illustrates different stages in the life of a Monarch Butterfly.
Overall, there are 6 main steps in the life cycle of this butterfly, beginning with the laying of the eggs, and ending with the adult butterfly being fully-grown.
At the first step, mature butterflies lay eggs on leaves. After being emerged, larvas shall consume leaves for nutrition before starting the chrysalis process.
In the fourth step, after transforming from chrysalis to new-born butterfly, it would gradually open its wings and adapt to the environment. At the end, fully-grown butterfly is ready for a new life and the whole cycle is then ready to begin again.
