The diagram is presenting the production of ethanol from corn and it plays critical role as a chief raw material of this synthesis process. The harvested corn should be stored and then it has to be go through the miling process to gain the corn grains for the next steps. Another raw material of production of ethanol fuel is water and the water is added to the corn grains. Afterwad, the mixture of corn and water is cooked for 4 hours and after this stage, it proceeds for the fermentation for 48 hours. During the fermentation the production of ethanol is happen and the liquid phase will be enrich of ethanol fuel. The separation process is the next step to remove the riched liquid from the solid by product. Although, the separated liquid might has significant amount of ethanol, the importance of purification process should not be neglected. This purification is implemented for 5 hours to increase the enthanol concentration in final product. After that, the liquid product is ready for the storage and it can be transported.
In summary, the ethanol fuel production requires corn and water as raw materials. The cooking, fermentation, separation of solids and purifation are main processes that can be continue for at least 58 hours. Finally, the produced ethanol would be ready for utilization.
