Educational institutions have a responsibility to dissuade students from pursuing fields of study in which they are unlikely to succeed.
Write a response in which you discuss the extent to which you agree or disagree with the claim. In developing and supporting your position, be sure to address the most compelling reasons and/or examples that could be used to challenge your position.
While it appears so that the a student must not pursue those studies in which they are unlikely to succeed and should opt for those in which chances of likelyhood is more. The role of the institutions is critical here and should only play the role of a mentor or a path guuider rather than the path decider in any students life. When i say the role is " critical " I mean to say that it is very difficult to first be involved in a students academic issues while still be away from it so that it does not hamper the students progress in any way.
While analysing wether Educational institutions have an responsibilty or not is a secondary question and the first and foremost issue is that who will decide if the student in a particular field is likely to succeed or not and what is the basis of such outcome. Because as we can see in the course of action we can never say what could have happenned , because in the first place we never let the student to pursue that course. History is rife with examples of how great scientist were seen with suspiscion and even to a point of complete disregard of their theories in the early stage of their carrier. Some even left the world with no one accepting them and later on they were found to as legitimate and ground breaking. Einstein was considered a poor student in the school and even dropped, had he not displayed the courage an utmost passion for science, we can easily would have lost arguably the greates t scientist ever. What goes inside a students mind or what he is capable of delivering of in future regarding any subject in which he might be poor at one stage can never be ascertain. The mind is very complex entity.
Again in the starting i mentioned that insitutes plays a critical role in students life, one can never disregard the role of the insitutes right away, as they have a major responibility in guiding the student and keeping them on track when a students strays off. It is always and almost always certain that some student do tend to pursue a study in which their response or results are not great, in such cases with the most meticulous scrutiny should be done and the student should be advised not dissuaded and again should be shown that they are on a wrong track and should prefer changing the track. the call should always remain with the student, ofcourse the guidance and the mentoring should always be there as the Insitutes proffessor and mentors are way experinced than a student. But if they help a student realise what is right or wrong then it will be a betterment to the students career as he will be more confident and not demoralised. Taking a call in the careers path for a student by any other person should always be the most undesired call even if the call is being taken by th most veterans. Again history is rife of people producing break through studies irrespective of their ages and experience. Such is the beauty of this world that the most desired result and break through comes from the most un expected corner and people.

So in developing a students career a educational insitute should always stick to apath guider andd not a path chooser or a path blocker,a and should always retort to make student see the new path as more fruitful one if the student is evidently on a wrong path. Which again is a difficult choice to make for any bode for that matter.
