The reading passage explores the issue of powered flight of pterosaurs, and several reasons are offered in support of this argument. However, the lecturer casts doubt on it and contradicts it for the following reasons.
First of all, even though the reading passage suggests that the pterosaurs are cold-blooded, the lecturer argues that the pterosaurs are warm-blooded. This is because they have dense of hair to cover their body, which means they use them to maintain their body temperature. Obviously the lecturer’s argument disproves its counterpart in the reading.
Secondly, the statement held by the writer claims that the pterosaurs are too heavy to stay aloft any second. Nonetheless, it is argued in the listening that the pterosaurs are light. The lecturer gives the truth that the pterosaurs' bone are not solid, so their weight are pretty light.
Last but not least, the lecturer acutely identifies the weakness in the reading passage that the legs of pterosaurs are too weak to run fast or jump. The lecturer convincingly points out that the pterosaurs use four leg to walk; moreover, in order to establish a solid and concrete statement, he offers the example that they can run fast and jump high by using four legs.
In conclusion, based on the evidence presented above, it can be clearly seen that the stances on both sides are paradoxical. Although the contents in the reading passage seem to be somewhat plausible, further scrutiny leads the lecturer to believe that the points of view in the read passage are not correct.
