Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? If children want to do well in school, parents should limit the hours of watching TV programs or movies.
Have you ever heard, “ Dad, could I watch my favorite cartoon?” Nowadays, a development of TV shows is significantly progressive, so the shows are colorful and really attractive to the children. There is no doubt that the children tend to spend their entire time on watching TV. Even though, some people do not worry about how long the children should watch TV; in my opinion, the parents should minimize the hours of it.
First of all, watching TV program would take the children’s study time. Of course, when the children are addicted to the program, they would not realize what they have to finish or they deny taking a responsibility on their duties such as homework, studying, or even spending their time with their parents. Therefore, if the parents do not consider in this point and do not limit the time of watching TV shows, the children will not have a sufficient time for study and they will not do well in the school. Take my niece for instance. My brother allowed her to sit in front of the TV most of the time. Later on, she denied doing her homework and studying for her class. Doubtlessly, she got really bad grad on her class.
In addition, watching TV program for a long period of time will affect to a brain’s development in young ages negatively. According to several research publications, they claimed that without body movement, the brain is lacked of stimulators. In fact, normally, when the children have activities such as running, playing games, they will have a chance to think. This way will activate their brain’s network and initiate a brain’s development. In contrast, watching TV for a long time, the children body will be static and their brain will not be activated. Thus, the children who spend their time on the TV program will not be as smart as the children who spend time on it less.
In conclusion, Even though, TV show provides amused moment, but if the children spend too much time on it, they would not have enough time on their studying and their brain would be retard. So, I would encourage the parents to let them watch TV for a short time of each day.
