In the lecture, the professor makes a series of points that cast doubt on all the tree suggested solusions presented in the reading passage. The author gives solusion for changing the glass in the buildings to keep the birds safe. The professor states no one of the solusions will work.
First of all, in contrast to the author's claim about making one way glass that could be helpful, the speaker states is not working for birds. He believes this kind of glasses work as mirror. So the birds become confused and would fly toward it and they will be in harm and injured.
Second, the professor says the colorful design can be helpful either. The people can see from the opening out but the birds could see an open hole.So they try to fly right through the hole and will be injured. However small colorful strips can diminish this drawback for birds but for people the glass would be too dark.
Lastly, the professor oposes using magnetic feilds in building due to the fact that birds only use this ability for long trip. In fact, however birds use magnetic feild for migration in long trip before winter, they do not use it in the short trip. So they use eyes and brightnerss of light in short trip and this chang in building is useless.
