The table illustrates the number of people going to different tourist attractions in Australia during the four-year period from 1996.
Overall, what stands out from the graph is that all the sites experienced upward trends except for the case of Central Eastern Rainforest Reserve and Macquarie Island in the number of visitors. Additionally, it is apparent that the figure for travelers to Great Barrier Reef was the highest while Macquarie Island was the least favored among the sites.
In 1996, there were 1670 million people going to Great Barrier Reef and this number increased twofold in 2000. Both Blue Mountains and Tasmania attracted around half a million visitors in 1996, after that these figures rose gradually over the period shown. Similarly, the number of holiday makers going to Shark Bay increased steadily to 89 million in 2000 from the starting point of 84 million in 1996.
In contrast, there were only 350 visits paid to Macquarie Island in 1996 before falling by 40 in 1998, then this number rose marginally to 330 in the next two years. Although Central Eastern Rainforest Reserve attracted 810 million travelers in 1996, this figure declined substantially during the period.
