For any nation to develop , the education system must be updated and strong. D The curriculum should be designed in such a manner that it helps in providing the proper growth and development of the students. I agree with the statement that 'A nation should require all of its students to study the same national curriculum until they enter college.'
The school education is what builds the base of an individual. It is the stage where an individual can be moulded and nurtured to enhance their physical and mental development. The basics taught during the school days is what provides a pedestal for learning in the college. If the national curriculum is such that all the students receive the same education it will help the students in being equal to others and also give them an opportunity to compete equally for college admissions.
In a country like India, we have three major boards in the nation under the educational system : Central board of secondary education (C.B.S.E.), Indian certificate of secondary education and State boards. The number of boards means that many different curriculum which leads to no common platform on the basis of which a students calibre can be judged for colleges or higher education. A similar curriculum will help students learn the same things at the same age and help in the gross output of the nation. Also during competitive exams the students can be judged correctly .
It will be easier for the national education system to design a similar curriculum for all the students to provide them will equal opportunities to learn and excel. No board will be considered better during entrances and thus every student will be given an equal chance to prove themselves.
All students if acquire the same knowledge will have a same learning graph which can be beneficial in finding out the potential of each individual. If they were to not study the same curriculum , one student might have an advanced learning of a particular skill than the other and this will be advantageous for them in the long run for getting acceptance to particular college. Also, in a country like India, with a large population and unequal distribution of resources there should be a standard measure to quantify an individuals potential. Having three national boards does not help the country in any way and also increases the competence and burden on the students.
Thus in conclusion it will be beneficial for the students, the educational systems and the colleges if students were taught a similar curriculum till they entered college.
