You have a friend who is about to enter university, and he wants you to advise him on which subject to specialize in – history, in which he is very interested, or computer science, which offers better job prospects.
• You should write at least 150 words.
• You should spend about 20 minutes on this task.
Dear Misha,
It seems like ages since I’ve heard from you. How is it going? I’m writing to answer your question about entering the Moscow State University. I would like to give some pieces of advice why you should choose STEM subject like computer science instead off humanitarian one like history.
There are several reasons for making such a choice. The major one is that specialists ranging from programmers to AI system engineers are likely to have an opportunity to obtain a job. This is because the market has been rapidly growing since the beginning of the 21st century. Another reason is that employees who work in the computer field have high salaries in comparison with other jobs.
Of course, you can argue that we should make such an important choice listening heart and not mind. But this isn’t really a case. In my experience, had I not become a lawyer, I would have never got an opportunity to buy a new Mercedes E-class, especially when being a philosopher as I wished when I was in school.
Drop me a line when you are free with your final decision. I’m looking to hearing from you.
Best wishes,
Evgeny
