The reading and the lecture talk about eco-certification of wood companies in the United States of America. The article mentions that American companies do not need to look for eco-certification and provides three reasons of support. The professor, on the other hand, opposes this opinion and casts doubt on all those reasons made by the author. He says that American people would like eco-certification for many reasons.
First of all, the author states that American people would not pay attention to advertisements because they are not trust in them. The lecturer, on the other side, contradicts this opinion by mentioning that American people do not treat all advertisements the same and they differentiate very well between them. Moreover, they trust the independence consumer agency because it has an good international reputation, therefore they will pay attention to what the agency offers.
Second, the writer suggests that the eco-certified wood will be more expensive than regular wood, and the American people very concerned about the price. However, the speaker contradicts this idea when he says that all people are concerned by the price, who does not?, but when the different in price just five percent, American people will start to choose on factors rather than the price especially if they are care about protecting environment like American people.
Third and finally, The author of the reading explains that because American companies do not export their product abroad, they do not need this certification at all. Conversely, The professor opposes this idea as well by illustrating that this would facilitate foreign company to enter American market and compete with domestic companies that do not have eco-certification wood product, especially for American people who concern about environment.
