The reading passage suggests that the dinosaurs are endotherms because of the places which the fossils found, the leg position and the bone structure of the dinosaurs. However, the lecturer cast doubt on the each of the author's idea.
First and foremost, the reading states that the most fossils found from the Polar regions which are the place suitable to live only for the animals that can keep its body temperature constant despite the outer temperature. On the other hand, the lecturer said that the Polar regions were much warmer before which is appropriate for non-endotherms to live.
Secondly, the article indicates the leg position of the dinosaur places underneath its body which is the same as the modern endotherms that sustain them when running. In contrast, the lecturer argued the position of the leg is not supposed to encourage running, it needed to support the weight of the dinosaur.
Finally, the passage suggests that the dinosaurs have a Haversian canal which is one of the indicators that decide the animal is endotherm or not. The professor made a counterclaim to that point by explaining that the dinosaur also includes a growth rings which limit the growth of dinosaur during the cold weather. According to him, this is not the characteristic of endotherms.
