The reading passage and the lecture both talks about the Agnostids whether it is a primitive arthropods or not. The author in the passage states that some paleontologist were not able to find out the agnostids are primitive arthopods or not but there are several supporting theories which clearly Shows that Agnostids living behavior and which supports that they are primituve arthropods and provide three supporting theories however, the professor explains that the theories did not clearly support whether it is primitive arthropods or not and refutes each of the authors reasons.
First, the author mention that arthropods may be a free swimmer because other types of primitive arthropods were also strong swimmer but the professor refutes the claim by saying that it is not true that arthropods can be a free swimmer because arthropods has not develop a eyes and Without eyes it is not possible to swim. According to him, other types of arthropods have tiny pores eyes but the arthropods do not have eyes and other sense organ which helps to swim.
Second, the authors posits that arthropods may have dweller in sea floor like other types of primitive arthropods do. On the contrary, the professor defines that other move slowly and spread into the small area. Other types of arthropods only occupy the small geography below the Agnostids move from one distance to others and also able to move multiple geography of area faster. So, it is highly unusual to compare this with totally different dwellers.
Third, the author says that there is a possibility about the agnostids may be a parasites because there are many modern arthropods species which is exist as a parasites like fleas, ticks and mites. But, the professor rebuts by saying that parasites population is not larger And they have a short life spam but the agnostids population is very high and it has also in a great size. It does not rely on theories that they were a parasites.
