The reading and passage both is about the adverse effect of internal-combustion fuel which are creating lots of problem, whereas the author of the reading says that those problem can be reduced by using hydrogen based fuel. But, the lecture casts doubt on the statement given by the author in the reading by providing three defensive reason which proves that hydrogen fuel is not beneficial.
First of all, the author of the reading points out the fact that internal combustion fuel are relies on petroleum, gasoline and diesel which are very rare to find and are in extinction rate. So, he posit that hydrogen fuel will be useful as it can be derived from various natural resources such as natural gas, water which are renewable resources. However, the professor disputes this point. He says that the hydrogen is not as easily found as the author of the reading states. He further adds more information by explaining that hydrogen cannot be directly derived from water. For example, for the use of hydrogen as a fuel it must be in a pure liquid form which is highly artificial and are very difficult to derived which needs very cool temperature of -283 degree celsius.
Secondly, the author of the reading claims that hydrogen fuel is attractive as it solve the pollution problem which helps to reduce the environmental problems as the production of carbon dioxide of combustion-fuel are more dangerous to nature. Nevertheless, the lecture argues that hydrogen fuel will not solve the problem. He also says that producing pure hydrogen need a process of purification which cause coal and oils to burns and cause the pollution.
Finally, according to the author of the reading people will be more likely to use the hydrogen as it costs low than the internal combustion fuel. He also thinks that the hydrogen fuel is more effective than the combustion fuel. On the other hand, the lecture refutes this statement. He believes that manufacture of fuel-cell platinum is rare to find and also expensive. Moreover, he also thinks that without the platinum the hydrogen alone cannot be ale to generate the electricity which helps to runs the car.
In conclusion, the lecture agree that the combustion-fuel are harmful as it cause the pollution but he also disagree that hydrogen fuel will help to eliminate this problem by illustrating three main points.
