Some people believe that visitors to other countries should follow local customs and behaviour. Others disagree and think that the host country should welcome cultural differences.Discuss both these views and give your own opinion.
Nowadays one of the tremendously controversial issues relates to whether while travelling other places people must act according to the traditions and culture of that country or must behave as they used to in their native country. In this essay I am going to appraise both view and then give my personal opinion on the matter.
On one side of this argument there are people who argue that the pros of pursuing the traditions of the visited country outweigh the cons. The main reason for believing this is that there are a number of cultures which fundamentally differ from each other. Therefore, in case of not following the traditions it can result negatively. For instance, in Iran there is tradition that women must cover their whole body with black dress, only eyes can be seen by others. Hence, tourist also must respect this tradition, or they can even punish for it.
On the other hand, it is also making the opposing case. It is often argued that tourists’ behavior can help to enrich the culture of the country, to be more precise, undoubtedly there is a lot to learn from other countries.
Moreover, giving opportunities feeling themselves as their own country can satisfy tourists and encourage them to visit the country again. To my mind, such circumstances are very indispensable for country and lead to develop the level of tourism due to the fact that visitors tend to travel countries where they can come across with any restrictions.
In my opinion, both arguments have their merits. On balance, however, I tend to believe that each country must show tolerance and endeavor to comprehend each other. In a nutshell, I think best solution is to provide an atmosphere for visitors and make them feel independent.
