The reading passage and lecture are both about the protection of forest with the assists of funds from the international conversation technique, whereas, the reading passage suggest that the funds will help in recovering the problem of deforestation. On the contrary, the lecture claims doubt on the reasons of the reading passage by mentioning three defensive points.
First of all, according to the author of the reading separations of funds to the people of farmers, government, and landowner allow them to get rid of logging. For example, giving funds to these persons including agriculture will help to reduce the problem as they will resist from the forests. However, the speaker refutes these ideas by stating his points that those obstructions created in the forest are due to the agricultural farming. Furthermore, he also says that farmer use the pesticides and fertilizer which are the main cause to create the destruction of forest. Thus, he mentions that logging is not the only problem.
Secondly, the reading passage demonstrate that funds given to the village and tribal communities will aids to continue their life and will not pressure to continue forest. For supporting instances, he states that those money will used by the local people in educations, health services and nutritional aid. On the other hand, the lecture disputes this arguments. He explains the facts that those funds will not be given to the government nor to the local people as they are handed to forest owner. These peoples may not distribute funds to local people, thereby administrating in solving problems.
Finally, the author of the reading claims that global concerns to protect the biodiversity will help people to escape from using forests. Human that use the forest for foods, shelter, clothing and medicinal herbs will reduce in amount as the funds will provide to them. Despite the claims of the author, the lecture refutes this statements. He thinks that promotions of biodiversity for planting tree will not promote the goods of biodiversity. Therefore, he suggests that depending on the money provided by funds is rather inadequate.
