Getting more than that we have as well as obtaining some different materialistic possession is common behavior of human beings because of their greediness, lack of self education and comparing himself with others in terms of concrete achievements i.e. wealth. Who does not want a Lamborghini to ride though he already has a BMW?Most of the people want that because we love to be rich, wealthy and unique. So, I agree that people never satisfied with what they have, they always want something more and different for the following reasons.
First of all, greed on precious things and better position is an inherent psychological behavior of human being. They can't avoid it because people are not happy with their current positions, and they want to earn
more money,to be wealthier. The junior official always want to be the senior officials around the year, they expect to get promotion each year regardless his performance. The ordinary street seller always want to sell and profit more what he did yesterday. It is naturally installed in our psyche that we need more and more, and if we don't get the best things then we will be looser.
But we forgot that life is not a race, it has some deeper meaning which is spiritual. As a result, we always don't care about self education and neglecting this type of education is another reasons for being not satisfied by the possessions that we have currently. A self educated person may not have a university degree but he may be far better than those who graduate from top ranking universities in terms of morality. The lack of self teaching has made us to follow the commonplace tradition to be satisfied.
The last thing is that people always compare themselves with other. Why am I not be able to be a Bill Gates. These type of comparison does not only degrade one's confidence but also disrespect own's entity. This type of comparison makes us unhappy in personal, family and every aspects of life. We think that if we don't get the most valuable position that we don't have then our life will be simply a disaster.
People can be happy with what they have. If they think so then there will be no dissatisfaction and eventually they will earn what they want. Furthermore, we can be happy and lead a very comfortable life with what we have currently.
