In this set materials, the reading passage state 3 main reasons for declining the yellow cedar. On the other hand, the listening section brings into question the reading by providing different reasons (and examples).
First of all, the reading passage indicates that some insect attack to the yellow cadre and they may cause the decline of the yellow cedar; in contrast, the lecturer opposes this view by mentioning that when the yellow cedar became healthy condition, they could produce some powerful chemical component which works as toxic and killed insect. Therefore, if the yellow cedar had become damaged or sick, some insects would attack this tree. Indeed, this insect cannot the main reasons for declining the yellow cedar.
Secondly, the reading argues that brown bears one of the most important reasons for declining the yellow cedar; conversely, what the lecturer believes is different. He points that the yellow cedar lived Northwestern. In the island, the bears did not live, but the yellow cedar was declined.
Finally, according to the reading, climate change is one of the most reasons for declining yellow trees. However, the speaker believes that some of this yellow tree lived in high elevation which the weather was very cold. Based on the research, the most yellow trees were lived on a high elevation and they more become dead than trees lived in lower elevation where the weather was warmer.
