The pie charts show the main methods of transport of people travelling to one university in 2004 and 2009.
The given pie charts illustrate the differences between the year 2004 and 2009 about the proportion of people using five different means of transport to travel to one university.
Overall, out of five categories, while individuals who use cars and buses for their travel were the majority, the proportions of people going by train and foot were smallest. Additionally, there are considerable gaps between the percentage of people using cars and buses in two surveyed years.
Regarding the year 2004, traveling by cars whose figure accounted for 51% was the main way to arrive to the university. Additionally, that figure was followed by approximately one-third of the percentage of bus travelers. By contrast, the figures for train and walking which were 3% and 4% respectively were considered the smallest.
Going to the year 2009, a significant decrease by roughly a half was witnessed in the proportion of people using cars. Consequently, the figure for cars users was overtaken by that for bus users which increase significantly to 46% over the 5-year period. Moreover, out of the three remaining types of transport, the percentage of people using trains and walking remained steady, whereas the figures for bicycle grew rapidly from 9% to 16% during the examined period.
