However, throughout the period shown, the consumption of beef and lamb dropped exponentially to around 105 grams and 60 grams respectively in 2004, while the consumption of fish was relatively stable at the level of around 50 grams. For consumption of chicken, there was an upward trend. In 1987, the consumption of chicken was overtaking the consumption of beef, and the amount of chicken consumed fluctuated from 1988 to 2004.
Overall, it is clear that the consumption was fish was steady at around 50 grams per person per week for the whole period. Consumption of beef and lamb dropped dramatically, while the consumption of chicken increased during this 25-year period.
