Some people think that universities should provide graduates with the knowledge and skills needed in the workplace. Others think that the true function of a university should be to give access to knowledge for its own sake, regardless whether the course is useful to an employer. What, in your opinion, should be the main function of a university?
It is argued that the main goal of universities should be the preparation of students to their future career and the emphasis is to be made on their work-related skills. Some, however, claim the view that higher education’s ultimate target is sharing knowledge and contribution to the development of science. Personally, I think that compromise is possible.
