The line graph illustrates the percentage of the age group of 65 years and above as a population in the countries of America, Sweden and Japan over a span of a century.
Overall, the percentage of population being 65 years or above seems to increase in all the three countries in the last decade, with the highest rise in Japan, followed by Sweden and America.
Experiencing steady decline from 5% in 1940 to about 3% in the mid 1980's, Japan displays a rise in the proportion of age from almost 5% in the 2000's to 10% at the beginning of 2030 followed by a drastic climb to 25% in the mid 2030's, ending at about roughly 27% in the year 2040.
Both the USA and Sweden show a steady rise in the percentage from almost 9% and 7% in the year 1940 to about 15% and 14% in the period of 1980 respectively. It is further depicted that some fluctuations are endorsed, where Sweden slightly experiences a fall in the mid 1980's while later jumps to about 20% in the 2010's followed by another steep decline and sudden upward movement to 25% in the 2040. Meanwhile, America undergoes fall from 1980's to a static state of about 14% between mid 1990's to mid 2010's, afterwards following Sweden's pattern, jumps to almost 23% in the 2040.
