It has been said, "Not everything that is learned is contained in books."
Compare and contrast knowledge gained from experience with knowledge gained from books.
In your opinion, which source is more important? Why?
It has been an insteresting doubt; which one is more important, knowledge from experience or from books. To answer the question, of course, we have to take a look at the two knowledge resources.
Someone said, experience is the best teacher. Whether it is true or not, experience is very important in a learning process. It rises from redundant activities and ,if being analized, will bring the subject to the best answer of a problem. Experience is very applicable and can be absolutely fit or suitable to solve specific cases. Nevertheless, sometimes it requires a long try-and-error process and is difficult to adapt to different circumstances. For example, we can not use the same method to solve temperature problem of buildings in tropical and sub-tropical regions.
On the other hand, knowledge gained from books is like a shortcut, through them we could learn from someone else’s experiences in shorter time. Students do not have to make experiment to produce phisycs or mathematics terms, such as terms or gravity or trigonometry, because experts have found it before. Eventhough sometimes information provided in books are so general that adjustment is needed, however, the condition opens way to expand and explore knowledge in more depth and results new ones.
In my opinion, both learning resources are important, they can be a complement each other. Knowledge from book is a base that gives us guidance in learning process. As the base needs to be improved, directed, specified, and strenghtened, then we will need experience.
