WRITING
WRITING TASK 1
You should spend about 20 minutes on this task
A friend of yours has always admired your car. You have now decided to sell it.
Write a letter to your friend to ask if he is interested in buying your car.
• Explain why you are selling your car
• Describe good points and any bad points about your car
• Suggest the friend visits you to see and drive your car
You should write at least 150 words
You do NOT need to write any addresses. Begin your letter as follows:
Dear Tim
Dear Maninder
How are you? Probably my cause for writing this letter would bring a smile on your face. I have decided to sell my car and since, you have been so fond of the car, I thought I should inform you first.
As you know, recent addition of my daughter to the family, we need more spacious car to fit the child’s pram, toys, nappies and what not. So I have decided to buy a Multi Utility Vehicle, like the one we used to call ‘Old people’s Car’ in college.
As you have seen before, the car is in perfect condition. Engine, Clutch, Gear are smooth like butter. I am sure with your highly sensitive ears, you won’t be able to hear any faulty engine or body noise. However, I would like to mention that there is a minor scratch on the front bumper and tyres are in average condition.
Maninder, why don’t you come over for the weekend, drive and see the car for yourself, and we’ll catch about rest with an evening beer.
Love
