You are studying for a qualification, and you would like some time off work to complete it.
Write a letter to your manager. In your letter:
Ask for some time off to complete a qualification.
Suggest what you will do later at work if you have time off.
Say how the qualification helps your job or company.
Dear Mr. Adam
I am writing to you to request a week off from work in order to finish my Diploma in Advanced Accounting Techniques. As you already know I have been taking classes for a year in order to expand my knowledge in the field of finance and to learn how to use modern Accounting software. And since I have attended all the required, I can now sit the final exams to finally get my degree. Consequently, I find it extremely difficult to thoroughly go through all the study materials while going to work for 8 hours every day.
Upon my return I am planning on staying at the office for an extra hour every day for a month in order to catch up on all the work I would have missed. I can also work Saturdays if that's permitted by The Human Resources Department. I will also happily teach my colleagues the newer techniques I have learned to help them achieve their tasks more efficiently.
I would like to point out how much this degree will benefit me as an accountant and consequently will also benefit the company. Because the company currently uses basic accounting software that produce errors and inaccuracies, knowing how to create and use cutting edge software will be an absolute advantage and can assist the whole department in updating the database.
I look forward to hearing your positive response.
Yours sincerely
Mary Brown
