Some people think that children should start school at a very early age, but others believe that should not go to school until they are older. Discuss both these views and give your opinion.
It is argued that children should start school at a very young age. In my opinion, however, I believe that it is more beneficial for them to begin a full-time school when they get older.
There are several reasons why children should start school at a very early age. First, with parents’ high hope, young students are sent to school to gain an advantage in a highly competitive environment. In other words, young schoolers would get familiar to the literacy and numeracy sooner than those starting school older, leading to being more mature and independent as they grow up. Second, it is beneficial for children’s language acquisition ability. Since children's brains are in a developing stage, they are eager to learn about new things. Scientific researches have illustrated that there are greater advantages when a child exposes to a foreign language during the early years of childhood.
In spite of the above arguments, there are numerous benefits for children starting school older. According to scientific statistics, children attend school when getting older get better academic performances. Finland, for example, is a country where schoolers do not start a full-time school until they are seven, has always been standing at the top ranking education system in the world. In addition to this, letting children take part in schools too early may lead to some health issues. In this sense, obliged to go to school when they are psychologically unready, children are likely to develop the fear of learning, even unnecessary stress in the long term.
In conclusion, although there are some undeniable merits on both sides of views, I still support that it is better for a child to begin a school when he/she is ready.
