Nowadays, more people are in favor of reading electronic book rather than paper books.
Do you think the advantages of using electronic books outweigh the disadvantages?
It is true that people tend to gravitate towards e-books as a source of reading rather than print books in recent years, when technology is having such a huge impact on our lives. While there are some drawbacks of e-books, I stand by the opinion that their benefits are greater.
On the one hand, there is no room for doubt that reading e-books lead to some negative aspects. The first objection is that fastening our eyes on the screen on a daily basis is a key rationale for eye diseases such as short-sightedness or astigmatism. Especially, children could be far more prone to such problems associated with e-books than adults. The second argument against the proliferation of electronic books is the dispersed reading time. For instance, using a mobile phone or laptop as a device to read, it’s likely for readers to be distracted by messages or e-mails.
On the other hand, I hold a strong belief that there are more upsides than downsides when using e-books. What I take my priority in is the flexibility and convenience of electronic version of books. A telling solid is that reading e-books would not require to bring a heavy pile of books. The second merit that should be taken into consideration is that e-books could make sizable positive changes to our environment. Using e-books could diminish the vital importance of cutting down trees, which is a pivotal process in producing traditional print books.
In conclusion, despite some potential problems, it seems to me that we gain more than we lose from the development of e-books.
