There is a debate about factors of frog population decreased. The reading material lists three major reasons, however, professor in the lecture refutes those by providing strong evidence.
first of all, reading passage points out that frogs population is harmed by pesticide which will do damage to frogs' nerve system. In this way, government should propose a law to restrict pesticide using. In the contrast, the speaker in the listening believes that it is not fair or economical for these farmers. it will have severe damaged to corps by those pest and yield less. Thus, the farmers will lose more corps and not be competitive to farmers in other area. Therefore, first point in reading does not hold the water.
In addition, the reading material illustrates that a deadly fungus will cause thickening skin of frog and finally frogs die for the dehydration. however, the lecturer in the listening finds this point is indefensible. She intends that treatment is provided in the passage has to be applied on individual frogs, and it is hard to apply this treatment on a large scale. it also cannot stop fungus to affect their offspring, which means people have to do the same treatment over and over. it is too expensive to execute such treatments.
At last but not the least, despite the statement in the reading that human activities threats frog’s natural habitats, which causes frogs have less and less habitats to lay their eggs in the water. In the controversy, the listening material disserts that global warming is the real reason cause habitats vanishing. it will not help to protect the habitats of frog to reduce the human activities.
