The image represents the evolution of horses in 40 million years. It is clear that there were a lot of changes in the structure, height and in the foot structure.
First of all, the most visible changing is in the height of the horses. They grew a lot between 40 million years ago and modern ages. At the same time, their tail became longer and happeared the hair on their neck. The face became longer between 40 million years ago and 30 million years ago becoming more similar to the modern horse.
Another important change is in the foot structure. The Eohippus, the 40 million years ago one, presented a long five-finger foot, then it started change with the Mesohippus who lost two fingers, because of the union of the central fingers, and they became shorter. The next type of horse is the Merychippus who showed a middle finger who is longer than others and in conclusion there is the modern horse which don't have fingers, but have a unique finger called hoof.
All this changes can be related to the different use of horses in the modern ages. They are utilized to ride them or in the agriculture, so they have to be bigger, higher and stronger than the past horses.
