The passage discusses the benefits of assembling a team for new projects in companies. The professor, however, makes doubts on these benefits, and provides some of his thoughts.
Firstly, the author makes an assertion on wider acknowledge and numerous skills of team members would lead company, or group, to finish the project quickly and efficiently. However, the professor contradicts with this assertion, and states that not every members in the team are taking equal responsibilities. In fact, there are some free-riders, whose contributions are considered as much as real contributers. Additionally, the professor indicates that the agreement on decisions as a team takes too much time to finish quickly, instead it would be late.
Secondly, the passage expresses that individual team members are able to contribute their idea, in which impose others, and they have a chance to "shine". The professor disagrees the contribution, and he thinks that some individuals influence others and don't allow other ideas to "shine". Moreover, although those influencer are warned by other to change the directions of the project in order not to fail, due to those influencers, who do regret to change their way, the failing of the projeject' responsibility is shared equally to each member.
