Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Teaching students is more important for professors than doing research.
Nowadays, professors play an important role in education. They contribute amounts of examinations in the academic fields. Some people may state that doing research is more crucial for professors while other argue that teaching students can gain benefits for their careers. In my opinion, I suggest that teaching students is an efficient way to increase the professors’ fame and research for several reasons.
First of all, professors will absorb new ideas and technologies through teaching. Students can use computers or new tools so well which contributes a lot to the research. To be specific, I am major in architecture which needs lots of drawings in the design but the professor draws by his hand more often than a computer. Actually, drawing through new software and computer is a more efficient way to save time and produce a design. Professor will learn those skills from students.
Second, the more students you teach, the better resources you have. For example, some students will become a professional worker in the future which professors need them to feedback their experience for the research. Working experience is one of the important parts of education. Furthermore, it helps to keep connecting the good relationship between the working environment and the educative field.
Third, the best way to increase professors’ research is that students join their studio actively. To illustrate, in my college, the most famous professor has amounts of students to participate in her studio because (of) her far-reaching fame. The professor just needs to pick up the best student in the class and do not need to worry about the research. This not only contributes to the studio but help students have good experience in the academic field as well
Definitely, some people may think that doing research is the basement in education. However, I think that research only focuses on analyzing information in the past but the most important thing is contributing to our future. Teaching students bring lots of benefits to the professors’ career. For example, 3D printers and VR technologies make professors easier to image the research in the future. To conclude, teaching students is more important than doing research because students are part of the resources for professors.
