The provided column chart illustrates the average numbers of students in the two types of classes in various countries, which compared with the world average.
At first glance, while four out of six countries had the same trend of data with the figure for the world average, the numbers of students at primary schools was higher than those at lower secondary schools in the UK and Iceland.
It is noticeable that South Korean contributed the largest gap to the data of class size between 8-14-year students (over 40 students) and 5-8-year students (nearly 30 students) among these countries. In addition, there were 31 students at the age of 8-14 in South Korea and Japan; whereas, the figure for the UK and Mexico were approximately 25. Also, class sizes in Denmark and Iceland were considerably smaller, at just over 18 and 19 pupils respectively.
Looking at the column in more detail, we can see that in term of lower secondary schools, South Korean was responsible for the highest number of students, which was 41. The figure for 5-8-year students in Mexico and Japan were nearly 34 and 33 in order, there was only 19 pupils at that group of ages in Denmark.
