Write a letter to the project manager to offer your help. In your letter:
Describe a local environmental issue that affects you
Explain what you would like to do to help
Suggest how the problem could be avoided in the future
Dear Sir / Ma'am,
I am writing this letter in regards with the advertisement you posted on local daily Tribute 3days ago. I am John a resident of Pennsville Suburb for the past 4 years. I am myself a plumber cum land surveyor.
There are 2 things, that is currently causing trouble to the local residents, the sand dust due to the strip on both sides of the road being uncovered with grass and the car wrecker workshop producing fumes of grinding all the time. On an average I have to wipe my floors twice a day due to the sand dust and couldn’t open the windows due to the fumes. This has been the issue for the last 1 year ever since the road department paved new roads and the workshop was commenced. My neighbours too expressed the hardship they are facing due to these.
I have recently started learning gardening for my backyard which has a huge space of 25m2 successfully implementing grass around the pathway. I think if I am teamed with 2 more hands I will be able to plant the grass along the strips which will curb the sand dust. Moreover, in the case of grinding fumes I can bring the 24 homes together for resolution discussion with the workshop owner. To my knowledge if they can dedicate a chamber space with high raised chimneys it could be mitigated successfully.
To reduce these issues stemming up in the future I would strongly suggest for the road department, to implement the conditional requirement of strips being planted with lawn grade grass to their road construction contractors. In case of workshop the local council should design laws that will make them to consider approval from local residents for their activity in the vicinity.
I will be anticipating for your follow-up in this matter. I also thank you personally for bringing up these projects through media channels. Your efforts are highly appreciated.
Yours faithfully,
John
