The line graph compares the means of transport which were used to carried the goods quantities in England over the given period. It is evident that maximum goods transported in UK by road starting from 1974 to until 2002.
According to graph,from 1974 to 2002, transportation of goods by pipeline slightly increase, from 5 to 22 millions tonnes. The figure of goods transported by rail were almost constant with slight fluctuations at 40 millions tonnes. Adding to it, the quantity of goods carried by water upsurged from 40 to 65 millions tonnes. What is more, the amounts of goods transported by road made a remarkable improvement from 70 to about 100 million tonnes with slight ups and downs over the period of 28 years.
As far as comparison is concerned, in 1974, goods carried by water and rail were at same position whereas in 2002, there was a massive difference between goods carried. Moreover, in 1974, the goods transported by road was 7 times more as compared to pipeline.
It is therefore, clear that, pipeline carried minimum goods as compared to other modes.
