Whether hydrogen fuel-cell engines are better substitute for internal-combustion engines or not?
The reading and the lecture discuss whether the hydrogen-based fuel-cell engines will replace the internal-combustion or not. The text offers three advantages of fuel-cell engines to confirm they will use instead of the internal-combustion engines. However, The lecture opposes all the advantages of the fuel-cell engines.
First, the reading believes that internal-combustion engines rely on petroleum, which is finite sources. Nevertheless, hydrogen can exists from water or gas. The lecture argues against that and explains, for using hydrogen, it should change to liquid hydrogen, which is very hard to produce. Moreover, to produce liquid hydrogen, we need a cold laboratory, which is impossible.
Second, the reading believes that using the hydrogen-based fuel-cell engines in the cars reduce air pollution. As cars are the main source of air pollution. On the other hand, the lecture explains, producing pure hydrogen requires burning lots of energy, such as coal and oil, which is polluted the environment.
Third, the author believes that people will spend less money on fuel-cell engines. In contrast, the professor asserts that fuel-cell engines are required platinum to operate, which is a very expensive substance. Also, the fuel-cell engines, don't go under reaction in the absence of platinum.
In conclusion, although the author mentions three advantages of the fuel-cell engines, the lecturer disproves all the advantages.
