Meditation

Essay topics:

Meditation

Meditation, the heart of Buddhist practices, allows us to realize both external and internal world in such a new way we have never known before. Whether you are an ordained or a lay Buddhist, meditation is always an effective spiritual training you should practice for the betterment of yourself.

Obviously, Buddhist monks and nuns take meditation as an inevitable training on their path to enlightenment. As people have wandering mind like a wild horse without rein, regular meditation sessions in a monastery in early mornings or late evenings, as well as during the whole day, help monks and nuns see themselves clearly and wisely. Such mindful practice on every single acts, words, or thoughts helps them realize the no-self nature of our conceptual world of good and bad, right or wrong, pure and impure. Awakening from the world of labels, they will have open, compassionate heart to everything, to whatever they experience in this present life. Enlightenment, in fact, is seeing things as they truly are and that can be achieved through meditation.

On the other hand, meditation also helps the lay Buddhists recognize the conditions of happiness in daily life. Because people have always had to struggle for food, for shelter, and for safety day by day, they often forget what thing is happening in the present moment and lose their own happiness. This state is called forgetfulness opposite of mindfulness. Practicing meditation helps them get mindfulness. In addition, there are those of us who are alive but don’t know it, they allow their mind float in their worries, their fears, their anger, and their regrets. However, when they are aware of every moment of your daily life, they recognize the many conditions of happiness that are in them and around them. That is why mindfulness is a source of happiness.

In short, practicing meditation is a good way for both ordained monks, nuns and lay people to have an insight into their mind and fully experience their life. Meditation is a transformative process rather than a magic makeover. The more we practice, the more we close up enlightenment and the more we develop mindfulness in our life
