Eating sweet foods produces acid in the mouth which can cause tooth decay. Describe the information below and discuss the implication for dental health.
The diagram below illustrates the amount of acidity which has been produced by eating 3 various kinds of sweet foods involve fruit, cane sugar and honey within 40 minutes in human’s mouth.
Overall, it is clear that lower than PH 5.5 affected badly on human’s teeth so according to the graphs, eating cane reduced the acidity of mouth for longer than 30 minutes below the mentioned number so, it had the worst results on dental health. On other hand, eating honey generated less acidity which had fewer adverse effects on teeth.
Based on cane sugar line after 5 minutes, it made the acidity to decline to 3.5 which was the lower level of PH in the whole graph. Afterward, it grew gradually and then passed the mental health line after 30 minutes where it was under PH 5.5. The other line for fruit sugar diminished to 4 in 5 minutes and then rose steadily to acidity of 5 in the next 5 minutes. This line increased gradually that finally reached higher than 5.5 after 30 minutes.
The last Figure that was allocated to honey, declined to near acidity of 5 in 5 minutes after eating and it remained still for 5 minutes. Then, it crossed the 5.5 PH less than 15 minutes so it was no longer dangerous for mental health.
