Experts say older people were happier and healthier in the past because they did more
exercise and spent more time with family and friends, whereas now many suffer
loneliness and health problems. What are the causes of this and what are some
solutions
Illness and Loneliness are ubiquitous these days compared to the older days because of reduced physical activities and spending less time with near and dear ones. This essay will discuss the main causes of sickness and social isolation resulted from a sedentary and socially fragmented lifestyle; further providing the solutions to these problems including improving one’s social life and diet.
People are living a lavish and luxurious lifestyle than ever before. In addition, these standards of living has made the need of socialization oblique. The human interaction is becoming obsolete with the advancement of technology, which allows a work to be done by the click of a fingertip. This results in a generation who rejoice alone time. Besides, such way of living makes a person lazy and careless about his/her physical health which further gives rise to diseases. A recent study shows that there is an increase in number of unhealthy population by 16% with an increase in economy. Thus, a comfortable life is malicious for both social as well as the physical aspect of an individual.
Maintaining an active social life and a fit body are both vital to stay happier and healthier. People need to realize that if they live a lonely life they will suffer from depression and mental disorders and a negligence in taking care of one’s body will exacerbate these issues. Therefore, to avoid such repercussions it is essential to spend more time with families and friends, probably by arranging an outing or a weekend filled with some sports activity which will benefit in improving both social and mental health.
In conclusion, people should establish a routine keeping in mind healthy habits and mental well-being to overcome health issues and loneliness.
