Whereas, the reading passage states that the forest fires should be stopped because they might cause major problems such as damage park's trees, affect wild life, and affect the local economy. The speaker refutes these points, and claims that ''natural forest fires'' are beneficial for the environment and the animals.

In the first place, the speaker disagrees that forest fires affect trees. She thinks that fires have a long term benefit on the trees because nutrients concentration is greater at the end of forest fires. In other words, due to the wooden discomposition, land become loaded with nutrients that provide a suitable environment for the trees to grow. The speaker said that the opposite might happen if the forest fires are stopped.

Second, the listener refutes the fact that forest fires affect wild life. She says that some species might be effected by the forest fires, but the majority of the species such as birds will benefit of these fires because new habitats might be created for birds.

Finally, the speaker claims that the economy won't be affected by the forest fires. She states that the forest only provides a few jobs and these jobs are occupied by outside people who are professionally prepare to do that. Even more, if equipment such as helicopter is used, then the expenses will be increased.
