The charts below show the percentage of men and women in different weight groups in England between 1993 and 2002.
Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features and make comparisons where relevant.
The line charts illustrate the trends in proportion of males and females weight groups during the period of ten years, from 1993 to 2002.
Looking through the overall perspective, we can notice the predominance of overweighted women (equals to 48-49 %) over other groups of respondents during the whole period and changes in prevalence of overweighted men by the end of surveyed years.
It is apparent that almost a half of male population (47%) consisted of healthy weighted people in 1993. By the end of 1998, there was a moderate decline in this percentage ratio and during remaining part of the period the number of healthy weighted men dropped a bit under 40%. The level of overweighted male population had an opposite tendency; between 1993 and 2002 number of overweighted respondents gradually increased from 42% to 48%. Considering the remaining two groups of obese and dangerously obese men, their percentages correlate to 15% and 3% respectively in 2002.
Moving to the female respondents, the dangerously obese surveyed hold the lowest level, consisting just above 3% as in the first category of people. Group suffering from obesity has undergone the most changes: at the beginning of the period it was just one tenth of female population, in 1998 the number reached 19% and ended up the year keeping this level. Unfortunately, healthy weighted women have the same trend as male respondents, decreasing their quantity by 9% and closed the year contributing to 31% of population. In conclusion, it seems that whole population in England between 1993 and 2002 had a tendency to growth the proportion of overweighted people to healthy weighted ones.
