In many countries today crime novels and TV crime dramas are becoming more and more popular. Why do you think these books and TV shows are popular?. What is your opinion of crime fiction and TV crime dramas?.
Crime related books and shows are becoming increasingly popular. Although the reasons for this popularity are mainly persuasive scripts and similarity to real life stories, in my opinion, these crime fiction and crime related television series promotes criminal behavior and can have negative impact on people's mental health. This essay will discuss both these reasons and my opinion on crime fiction in detail.
Now a days, people have started following crime fictions a lot more than early days. The major reason why people follow crime related books and television shows is due to the intriguing script. The content creators add many twisted plots into the novel or dramas in order to make the audience hooked on to the television show or novel. For example, a web series called 'Money Heist', although was initially made in a foreign language, gained popularity in a short time across the globe due to the twisted plots in the script. Another reason for the popularity of these crime related contents is that, it gives an insight into real world issues. For example there are shows like CID in Netflix which is based on real life incidents. In short, crime fictions are popular due to the persuasive script and similarity to the real life stories.
However, these crime novels and TV shows have strong effects on the society. These antisocial content can manipulate human brain to adopt these practice in daily life which in turn can increase the crime rate in the country. For instance, if a child grows up watching these kind of shows, it can create an impression in the child's mind that doing a crime is normal and might develop ambition to become an underworld don in future. Apart from this, crime stories which include murder, theft, rape and so on, can lead to phobia and depression among people. Hence, these crime related stories have negative impact on the society.
In conclusion, I believe that prowess script writing and the similarity of the crime fiction and TV dramas to real life incidents are the reasons for the popularity of this genre. In my opinion, these stories not only promote crime in the society but also can lead to create psychological issues in individuals.
