The table indicates the number of gold, silver and bronze medals won by the top ten nations in the 2012 Summer Olympics which took place in Great Britain.
Overall, it can be seen that the rank was dependent on the number of gold medals achieved. Moreover, the United States won the largest number of medals among ten countries while Hungary had the least.
One of the most striking features shown in the table is that the USA was ranked on top thanks to 104 medals won in total, with 46 gold medals. This country was followed by China and Great Britain with a total of 88 and 65 medals, respectively. Although Russia gained more medals than Great Britain, this nation was ranked fourth with 24 gold medals compared to 29. Meanwhile, Australia won only 7 gold medals, standing at the last position.
Another noteworthy feature is the same number of gold medals achieved by Germany and France(11) which were ranked at sixth and seventh place, respectively, followed by Italy and Hungary with equally 8 gold medals.
