The line graph demonstrates the ways of spending leisure hours in the United States by older people from the year 1980 to 2010.
Overall, what stands out from the graph is that from the beginning hiking grew linearly, while, after a sudden period both reading and surfing the internet increased rapidly. Though it is similar for theatre, but not much as these two had. From early-stage the number of watching TV rose gradually, but in the last decade, the number climbed down.
Regarding hiking and watching TV, in 1980, 20 percent of the older generation were interested in hiking, while 60 percent liked to watch TV in their free time. In the case of hiking, the values were increased 2 times every decade compare with the previous, and finally, end at 80 percent. On the other hand, up to the year 2000, only 10 percent of TV watchers rose, then it falls down to 65 percent approximately.
Then turns to the other three features, at the beginning 50 percent of elderly people went to the theatre to enjoy their free time, after that, it started to decrease and just after 10 years, the number dropped to 30 percent. Though in 1980 there was almost 30% difference between the rest of the two features at the end, only 10 percent remained.
