Given is the line graphs illustrating the changes in possession of electrical objects and the amount of time spent on housework in one country from 1920 to 2019. Overall, the first year of the given time saw the highest hours per week, per household, even though the proportion of electrical appliances was the lowest figure in the same year.
As can be seen from the first graph, there was clearly an upward trend within a decade from 1920 to 2019. The figure of the washing machine started at a higher percentage compared to the two other remained, at exactly 40%, whilst the percentage of the refrigerator began at 30% and there was no use of vacuüm cleaner at the same time. After that, in 1940 the percentage of vacuüm cleaner rose sharply to more than a half while the use of washing machine and fridge increased gradually to 60% and 50% respectively. In the next 40 years, though there was a slight fluctuation in the proportion of washing machine, the vacuüm cleaner kept increasing significantly to nearly 100%. However, the refrigerator reached an exact number of a hundred percent and flowed consistently to the end of the decade. The 2 other objects rose marginally, while the vacuüm cleaner ended at 100%, the washing machine stood at approximately 75% in 2019.
Even though it appeared that there was not much use of electrical appliances in 1920, the hours people spend doing chores per week occupied a number of 50, which was the highest. there was a straight drop in the continual 40 years and then reached to just 20 hours a week. This figure then fluctuated modestly and stood at a tenth in 2019, which was also the lowest number of hours of housework per household a week.
